OTAKU
Otaku has always understood machines better than people. An engineer and designer at KAMI SYSTEMS, he spends most of his time building whatever unusual project lands on his desk - including a series of increasingly sophisticated holding cells hidden beneath K1, commissioned by OL for reasons she has neglected to explain. Easy-going and endlessly inventive, Otaku is comfortable around technology but considerably less confident around women or anyone with authority. He’s also been placed in charge of training KAMI SYSTEMS’ newest intern, Hiki, whose unusual temperament and abilities make the two a surprisingly natural match.
Otaku possesses the extraordinary ability to awaken almost any object he touches, temporarily bringing it to life and drawing out its hidden potential. A harmless toy can become a ferocious little monster, while an everyday object might reveal capabilities nobody imagined it possessed. His fascination with objects means he’s usually thinking about what he can build, modify or animate next - which may explain why he remains completely oblivious to the fact that someone nearby has developed a rather serious crush on him. Otaku can bring almost anything to life. Noticing his own love life may prove considerably harder.
