Hiki wasn’t always a hikikomori. Once a fairly normal kid, he gradually withdrew from the outside world as a strange need to sleep, daydream and disappear into his imagination began taking over his life. What everyone else saw as laziness was actually something far stranger developing beneath the surface. With enough concentration, Hiki can manifest things from his imagination as glowing physical constructs, from weapons and creatures to whatever bizarre solution occurs to him. Some can even act independently with limited intelligence, although everything he creates risks fading away the moment his concentration breaks.

After initially refusing OL’s offer to join KAMI SYSTEMS, Hiki was eventually persuaded by her considerable charm - along with free lunches and a games room suspiciously well equipped for an office. Now an intern under Otaku, whose temperament and unusual abilities make him an ideal mentor, Hiki is discovering that years spent dreaming and playing video games may have prepared him surprisingly well for battle. His imagination gives Kami Army an unpredictable tactical edge, while his first day at K1 gave Hiki another reason to keep turning up: he met JK and fell for her immediately. Her older brother Sarariman was considerably less enthusiastic.
