BASEMENT

Hidden beneath her grandfather’s house, the Basement is Sofie’s homemade headquarters and what she likes to think of as her home under her home. What began as an ordinary basement has gradually been transformed into a private hideout filled with computer equipment, screens, case files, books and an ever-changing crime board where clues, suspects and seemingly unrelated details compete for space—and Sofie attempts to make sense of them all.

It may lack the polish and technology of a purpose-built superhero headquarters, but the Basement has everything Mystery Girl needs to investigate Pretty City from the shadows. More importantly, it’s hers: a place to think, plan, research and obsess over questions without interruption. For a girl who spends most of her time searching for answers, the Basement is one of the few places where Sofie feels completely at home.
